Instrument Maintenance Instructions

1. Pre-disinfect

Put dirty instruments into disinfecting solvent as soon as possible. Do not let instruments dry dirty. Use correct dosages and exposure times. (If you use a thermodisinfector, skip service cycle steps 1–5.)

2. Rinse

Rinse instruments thoroughly under warm running water.

3. Clean

  • Washing machine
  • Hand wash: With a soft brush, warm water and detergent, remove all visible dirt.
  • Ultrasonic cleaner: Use instrument cassettes to prevent damage.

4. Rinse

Rinse instruments thoroughly under warm running water.

5. Dry

Dry instruments before sterilizing them.

6. Inspection and sharpening

Inspect each instrument. Sharpen, service or replace worn or damaged ones.

7. Packing

Pack serviced and cleaned instruments for sterilization

8. Sterilization

  • Autoclave: Place clean, dry and properly packed instruments into the autoclave.
  • Hot-air sterilization: Place clean, dry and properly packed instruments into the hot-air sterilizer with correct spacing. Do not fit them in too tightly. Check that the temperature is set correctly (max. 355° F / 180° C).

Note! For LM extraction instruments the maximum temperature is 273° F / 134° C.

Important!

  • Regularly service cleaning and sterilizing machines.
  • Follow all user instructions.
  • Pay special attention to correct dosages and exposures.
